August Home Gardening Tips

August is typically the month that gardeners get to enjoy all the hard work of the summer. Vegetable gardens are peaking and producing lots of goodies to eat. Your flower beds are in full swing, and you can decorate your home as they produce their last blooms.

So enjoy August! And remember, here are three things that you can do to prepare to move into early fall.

Order any peony roots or fall bulbs now, so they are ready for planting.
Plant late season annuals that will add color to your landscape in fall.
Vegetable gardeners can start your fall crops, but be sure to protect your plants from the sun with adequate shade.
Prepare dead spots in your lawn for reseeding by dethatching.
